How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?
Daily Prompt
As the COVID-19 pandemic persisted, I was determined not to use it as an excuse for inaction; instead, I yearned to say that I achieved something despite the challenges it presented. Driven by this resolve, I embarked on a transformative journey, adopting four innovative approaches to adapt and thrive in the midst of adversity.
Firstly, driving into new horizons, I obtained another engineer’s certificate. With large gatherings discouraged, I missed out on appointments and family trips. Motivated by this, I pursued and successfully acquired my certificate, unlocking newfound freedom. Totally, I have four engineer’s certificates.
Secondly, bonding through trekking, my daughter and I embarked on a 200 km (125 mile) trekking journey over three years. Each weekend, we scaled sparsely populated mountains, eventually earning certificates of completion and invaluable bonding experiences.
Thirdly, fitness first, I prioritized exercise, shedding approximately 10 kg (22 lbs) within three years. Eschewing crowded gyms, I engaged in daily home workouts, sculpting a stronger, healthier physique.
Lastly, remote work mastery, I tailored my team’s management to suit the remote work environment. Concerned about productivity dips, I integrated online work systems and focused working hours, which boosted efficiency and allowed flexibility outside those hours. My team’s enthusiastic response led to even greater productivity improvements.
In summary, the COVID-19 pandemic compelled me to adapt in ways I never anticipated, from acquiring a certificate and trekking with my daughter, to home-based fitness routines and mastering remote work management. These changes enriched my life, and now, with unwavering confidence, I can share my remarkable journey during this unprecedented time.
